A short history and description of Multicultural Kids Camp
“Way back in the day” the Multicultural Association began to work with Kids Unlimited, offering a week of cultural exploration during KU’s summer session. We borrowed boxes of hands-on relics from many countries housed at Portland State University’s Multicultural Resource Library. People from the local disability program, DASIL, lead a day of allowing children to experience different disabilities.
We held Multicultural week at Kids unlimited for 8 summers. In the Early 2000's we offered a week of Camp Odyssey cultural awareness training. Our cultural immersion camp, Multicultural Kids Camp grew out of a partnership with Southern Oregon Indian Center.
As a nonprofit organization, MCASO relies on the support of our community to continue providing accessible arts programming. There are many ways to support us, from making a donation to becoming a member. Your support helps us to continue providing high-quality arts experiences for people of all ages and backgrounds.
